- (07/07/05, Thursday) Your final grades are now available from
the Progress file. Let Polly
know if there's anything problem by July 11 2005, noon.
- (06/02/05, Thursday) Your grades and class performances, including
the status of the labs, are available from the
Progress file.
- (06/02/05, Thursday) The location of the final project presentations
will be BL-215. The term project time schedule is
available from the Project link.
- (05/13/05, Friday) Those who wish to learn the linkage of
C++ to otcl, please feel free to email the instructor for the ns-2
tutorial video.
- (05/13/05, Friday) The rest of the lectures will be held
in the computing lab: EEII Room 132.
- (05/13/05, Friday) The presentation time for the final project
will be on June 27, Monday, from 1pm to 6pm. It's going to be a long
battle. Each group has only 20 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes
for the Q&A. There will be 9 slots: 1:00-1:25, 1:30-1:55, 2:00-2:25,
2:30-2:55, 3:00-3:25, 3:30-3:55, 4:00-4:25, 4:30-4:55, 5:00-5:25 and
some 10 mins for the final comments. We will take a random draw but
those who wish to present earlier or later can try to switch order with
other teams.

presentations at the beginning of the lecture today.

the instructor if there is any error as soon as possible.
- (05/13/05, Friday) I have received the project proposal revisions
for almost all teams. Team #8's project topic is however still unclear.
- (04/29/05, Friday) We'll be off to EEII Room 132 for
the ns-2 lab#1 for this week. The lecture of ns-2 102 will be
back in BL-103.
- (04/29/05, Friday) The projects are all very
interesting. I'm looking forward to the presentation at the
end of the semester. The projects are interesting enough that
I'm considering to have you guys present briefly the idea and the
experimental plan.
- (04/29/05, Friday) The round of project proposal
screening is completed. Many teams forgot to list the project
title. Some are asked to revise the proposal. Please make
sure the missing/revised project title are emailed to me by the
team captain asap. The revisions can submitted by next Friday 14:00
to the ftp server.
- (04/11/05, Monday) The guest speaker for April 22
will be Kuan-Ta Chen who has been doing research on game traffic
analysis. He will spend about 2 hours going over the recent
findings on the characteristics of MMORPG traffic and another
hour on the peer-to-peer traffic. This lecture will be in
Chinese and will not be recorded.
- (04/11/05, Monday) The Skyqe slides are a bit
sensitive and not appropriate to put them up publically
available. If you'd like a copy of it, request to Polly by
email.
- (04/11/05, Monday) The review #1 grades are
available from the
Progress page.
A+ gets 7, A 6, A- 5, and B+ 4 points.
Please double check if your grade is recorded wrong.
- (04/11/05, Monday) The project proposal meetings will
be help all on April 28, Thursday. The individual group's appointment
enlisted on the Term Project page.
- (04/08/05, Friday) Some did not check the
Paper Reviews carefully and
neglected to discuss these aspects 1) clarity, 2) correctness,
3) originality, and 4) significance of the paper. And
some repeated the sentences/phrases used in the papers and
didn't show enough one's genuine interpretations or opinions.
These are the main reason one didn't get an A.
- (04/08/05, Friday) The review #1 is graded and the
grades are available from the
Progress page.
We have one very impressive review this time. The reviewer
examined the question in mind with actual experiments!
- (04/08/05, Friday) The project proposal will be due April 22
the week after next week. You want to start brainstorming.
The advice is that pick a problem that you see yourselves solving
(at least to some degree) in a few weeks. On-going projects and
master thesis work are welcome.
- (04/08/05, Friday) We'll set individual meetings on April
28 (Thursday) to discuss the proposals.
- (04/08/05, Friday) The instructor has biz travel the week
of April 19 to 26. We will get substitute speakers to talk about
recent advances in online game and p2p traffic characterization on
April 22. We will start the ns lab#1 one week later.
- (03/30/05, Wednesday) The HW#3, the 2nd paper review, will be
due by next Friday 14:00 sharp. You may select one paper from the
'Internet Dynamics' and 'Case Studies' sections from the
Reading List to write the detailed review about.
- (03/24/05, Thursday) The ftp server for the assignment
upload is changed. Please refer to the
Paper Reviews and Term Project links for
detail.
- (03/18/05, Friday) Read at least the abstract and introduction
sections of the papers to get a better idea what will be up in the class.
I.e., you get more out of the lectures when you know what's to come.
